Silver Needle White Tea

Sit back, relax and enjoy a cup of Silver Needle White Tea! This delicate and slightly sweet flavored tea is hand-packaged in a Winterthur exclusive container. The design on the outside of the container is based on 1795, Silk on Linen, Embroidery pattern by a young lady from the Philadelphia area. She used various types of cut and drawn threadwork to depict a basket of flowers, a popular design. Made in USA.

Learning to work a sampler was an integral part of most women's education in the 18th-century with needlework being taught at home or at a school. The level of skill involved in the techniques of embroidery acquired by young girls is truly amazing!

• Exclusively blended and hand packaged for Winterthur Museum.

• A delicate and refreshing infusion of flavor with a sweet, silky ending.

• 1.25 oz. Net Weight (35g).

Preparation: Before adding the boiled water to the white tea, it should be no more than 158ºF to 167ºF or 160-170ºF at most. Allow water to cool for 1.5 to 2 minutes. Steep tea 2-3 minutes.

Fill a kettle with cold fresh (preferably filtered or spring) water. When the water is near the boiling point, pour a little into the teapot, rinse it around and then discard. This cleans and warms the teapot.

Measure your tea carefully in your teapot. Add one tea bag or one rounded teaspoon of loose tea for each cup. You can use a tea ball, or an infuser, but use the same amount of tea.

Bring the water in the kettle to a rolling boil but do not allow it to boil too long. Pour the water over your tea to release the flavor naturally. If you prefer your tea weaker or stronger, never vary the brewing time, simply increase or decrease the amount of tea to your liking.
