New York Pembroke Table - Floor Sample Sale

Winterthur Reproduction
Original Price:

Mixing traditional furniture with contemporary decor adds interest, contrast, and depth. This finely crafted reproduction is ideal for sofa end table, card playing or writing, any occasion when a small flexible table is useful.

The New York Pembroke table is exceptional because of the light and dark inlays. The drop leaves are supported by hand crafted wooden hinges. The top creates an oval shape when both leaves are extended. A long drawer is designed on one end with a mock drawer on the other for classical symmetry.

Winterthur's exacting standards require that reproductions may not vary more than 1/8th" of the original.

In his 1794 edition of The Cabinet-Makers and Upholsterer's Guide, George Hepplewhite calls pembroke tables, "the most useful of all tables" and addsm "the ovals are the most fashionable." The original was made in New York between 1795 and 1810 and is currently displayed in the Blue Room here at Winterthur.
