Society of the Cincinnati Cup and Saucer
George Washington's most famous porcelain china has been reproduced for you to use in your home. The Society of the Cincinnati was founded in 1783 to recognize the honorable service of French and American officers during the American Revolution. It was brought to America aboard the Empress of China, the first American ship to conduct trade directly with China. George Washington was the first President General and a large dinnerware service was created in 1784 to honor him. Winterthur houses the largest collection of this set.
